"San Diego has the potential to be a model of how a large urban area can coexist successfully with natural habitats. My goal is to work hard finding ways to make this happen."

Environmental issues are top priority for 10News weathercaster and environmental reporter Loren Nancarrow. His love and concern for nature started when he was just a kid. "Jacques Cousteau made me aware of the damage we're doing to the environment," he says. Loren is making viewers aware every weeknight on 10News. He not only gives accurate local and national weather reports, but he also encourages San Diegans to debate today’s environmental issues in his Field Notes blog.

Reporting has taken Loren around the world in search of environmental issue's and nature stories. During his 30 years in California, he has been honored with several Emmys, Golden Mikes, Associated Press and News Directors awards for his unique brand of reporting.

Loren is also an award-winning author, having co-written "Dead Snails Leave No Trails," "The Worm Book," and "Dead Daisies Make me Crazy." As an avid gardener, Loren’s gardens and gardening techniques have been featured in various national and local magazines.

"San Diego County has been extremely kind to me and my family and we feel fortunate to be associated with organizations which work tirelessly to make it a wonderful place to call home," says Loren. He is a board member with the EcoLife Foundation, a member of the San Diego Zoological Society’s Community Innovators Council, an honorary chair with Pets are Wonderful Support (PAWS), an honorary chair with Quail Botanical Gardens and the Chula Vista Nature Center, and is an active supporter of The San Elijo Lagoon Foundation, the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA, The Fund for Animals, San Pasqual Academy, and San Diego Coast Keepers.

Loren and his wife Susie, along with their 3 children and a large menagerie of pets and livestock live in coastal north county on a small ranch they’ve lovingly named "The 10 News Ranch."
