North County Beachgoers Hop Aboard Sprinter

The beach was the place to be on July 4, if you found room on the sand or if you could find parking.

For many beachgoers, including San Marcos residents Michael and Alma Cox, the Sprinter train was the smart choice.

"Because they said that all the streets were going to be closed and it costs so much for gas these days. It costs me $100 to fill up my tank nowadays and it only cost me $2.25 to get here and go back," said Alma Cox.

The Coxes saved on gas and did not have to worry about parking.

"It didn't take but 20 minutes to get here and 10 minutes, not even 10 minute walk to the beach and you're here. You save gas and look, we're going to have fun," said Michael Cox.

Michael and his friends came early to set up their spot and then returned after breakfast to enjoy their Fourth of July in style.

All it took for Alma was a couple of minutes and homemade ceviche was order of the day. Michael pitched in by setting up the BBQ.

It all went so well for these first-time Sprinter riders that they have big plans for the future.

"We're going to be coming every weekend, ride the Sprinter, walk the beach. What better exercise can we get?" said Alma.
