A thief used a demand note to rob a Clairemont Mesa bank Friday afternoon, authorities reported.

The bandit, described as appearing to be in his late 20s to early 40s, handed the message to a teller at a Union Bank branch office in the 4200 block of Genesee Avenue shortly before 1 p.m., according to San Diego police.

He fled to the east on Balboa Ave. with an undisclosed amount of cash in a newer-model white pickup truck, possibly a Nissan Frontier, SDPD public affairs Officer Jim Johnson said.
