SAN DIEGO -- Flames tore through a City Heights canyon Monday, prompting residential evacuations but causing no reported injuries or structural damage, authorities reported.The blaze off the 3400 block of 47th Street began spreading about 4:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.Police officers cleared people out of homes rimming the gorge while firefighters attacked the flames from the ground and aboard a water-dropping helicopter, SDPD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.
Crews had the several-acre fire under control within an hour.
