Earthquake Hits Near Palomar Observatory

CLEVELAND NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. -- Three earthquakes, the strongest with a magnitude of 4.1, rocked an area of northern San Diego County Monday.The first of the temblors centered about 10 miles north of Palomar Observatory, just north of the San Diego-Riverside county line, struck at 4:35 a.m., said Caltech seismologist Anthony Guarino.Two milder quakes -- with magnitudes of 3.8 and 1.2 -- occurred in the same locale at 9:41 a.m. and 9:46 a.m., respectively, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
There were no reports of damages or injuries.
