A 44-year-old man who went to a home in University Heights Tuesday morning to retrieve some property was cut twice with a machete after getting into an argument with the current residents, police said.

The man received a cut to his left hand and forearm in the 4600 block of Alabama Street at around 6:45 a.m., San Diego police Sgt. Art Battrick said.

His attacker is described as a white man, 35 to 40 years old, around 5 feet 6 inches tall and 120 pounds.

It was not immediately clear if the attacker lives at the residence or was a visitor.

The man who was cut went to the hospital for treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening, according to Battrick.
